The roof area of vehicles, in this example an electric bus, is particularly difficult to access – yet work at height must be carried out there regularly.
Challenge: Creating a safe working environment on bus roofs

The aim was to create a working platform for the maintenance of mainly electric buses, enabling safe, ergonomic and efficient work at height – without compromising flexibility in the workshop.
Solution: Bespoke working platform
Platform requirements

The working platform must be designed in such a way that it can be used even in confined workshop spaces whilst taking up as little floor space as possible.2
The solution should be easy to move and can be positioned as required with minimal effort.3
Direct, gap-free attachment to the vehicles is required to ensure safe operation without any gaps.4
A stable, safe working area must be created on the vehicle roof to ensure that maintenance and servicing work can be carried out reliably.5
It should be possible to climb up and down comfortably and safely, even when carrying tools or heavy components.6
The platform staircase is designed to be versatile, suitable for use both inside factory buildings and outdoors.

The stairs and platform are connected via a coupling unit with quick-release fasteners, enabling rapid assembly and safe use of the platform.

Swivel castors combined with a central brake ensure easy manoeuvring and stability during use.

Built-in edge protection prevents damage to the vehicle.

The work platform can be folded out when required, extending the safe working area on the vehicle roof.

Handrails on both sides and a barrier ensure safe, ergonomic and compliant access.

Walking and working surfaces made of steel grating with an anti-slip property class R12 ensure maximum safety, even when wet or dirty.
